Welcome to Hogwarts Distance Education, I hope you enjoy seeing our fun as much as I have had in the planning of it. Setting up my schoolroom has always been a big fun deal to me. I do rea;lize that the children are getting older, themes are kind of wasting away for them but I wanted just one more. Just one more big thing before they are just too old to really have fun with it anymore.

The idea started with a few posters and a yahoo group. Then of course we had to have a Honeydukes and before you knew it the kids had thrown around ideas, I saw Harry Potter parties online and this little idea has taken on a life of its own. Because like me my children have to go all out so to speak!

Week 2 of Magic School

There is that tongue again! I love it. We got all our book work done. We read our Daily Profit newspaper and did our Wizard Words. It was fun listening to them make up sentences for that! In our Wizardology books we learned that most wizards have a skull. This can be a great paperweight or when you are lonely you can teach it to talk. So of course the kiddos needed a skull to add to their wizard chests.

Skyler thought it would be able to speak better if it were looking in a mirror LOL!

They also made some Wizards athames which is just a fancy word for knife.

Of course Skyler had to make something on it pink! What a girlie tom-boy she is. Theses are made from a template of a dagger I found online at some card making site. I used foam and cardboard. Fox didn't want to do this so OK whatever.

For potions we made Troll Bogies. I think it is basically just slime but they had a blast. I should have made the ingredients more so they could have played longer with it.

Of course Skyler and Fox had no issue with playing with it but Damian was not going to touch that sticky junk! Still my clean hand kid.

After school was over they all got their Goblin Jobs and happily I mean happily went to work! While Skyler was picking up trash in the yard she found a few friends.

These little frogs are always all over the yard. I have no clue about them. The kids call them sticky frogs and they just adore them.

The happy day of Diagon Alley being opened! The kids could finally spend some money. They were thrilled. Fox and Damian bought unicorn horns and Skyler bought the little pygmy puff she has been eyeing for months now.

A nice cool snack after a long day of hard magic work! Went nicely with their butterbeer.

For more of our day you can see that here.

Week 1 of Magic Scool!!!

Assignment and potion ingredients are ready to go as soon as school starts!! I have been on a real kick about having things all ready to go lately. It really makes the days go much smoother.

My Magic School morning board! From the left we have a Wizards Words pocket. Every week they get 5 vocabulary words from the Harry Potter Vocabulary Book. They must write the word, part of speech and definition.  When everyone is done we go around and use the words in a sentence. The bottom pocket is our Daily Profit newspaper. We have to keep up with the Wizarding World. In the middle we have a calendar. At the top right is the Owl Scouts News pocket, it is empty as scouts has yet to start. At the bpottom they have Goblin Job sticks. This is how they earn their Gringotts coins to spend at Diagon Alley which is going to be open this month on the 28th.

Their little pens are so cute! Skyler was quite adamant about using her quill to write with for all her Wizard Work.

Book work first!! They did Muggle Studies, Wizardology, Aritnmancy, Potion book work, and of course Hogwarts A History.

Now to make some Dragon Drool!!!! Damian did not like the cloud of white from the dragon ash in his face.

Add the Phoenix Tears which Fox enjoyed doing very much.

Stir well. She is using a stick that Damian found in the yard that all the kids call moms magic wand lol.

Now feel the Dragons Drool! Dragons Drool shows the two states of matter solid and liquid. Supposedly if you get a minor burn the Dragons Drool paste will take the sting out. I think they had fun. Damian is not really grasping the whole money thing. He doesn't understand why everyone is not the same. It will take a bit but I am sure once he catches on he will do fine with it.

All in all it was an OK day. Had some complaints of the writing and math part but oh well, gotta do whatcha gotta do!!

Our Hogwarts Dinner

Butterbeer, bangers (sausage links), scrambled eggs and english muffins was dinner tonight! More pictures here.

Our Wizard Party

Today we had our Wizard Party for back to school! The kids made Wizards Trunks. They can keep all their Magic School stuff in these hopefully. They got all their school supplies and their new decorations, which they loved. This afternoon they are having sausages, eggs, english muffins and dragon blood punch for dinner! They loved the chocolate frogs which I did not enjoy making at all. They played with all the new decorations and acted silly.

They look so cute in their "uniform" shirts!
Damian enjoyed making fun of the sorting hat! If you want to see the decorations in detail you can go here. There was just so many of them there is no way I can post them all! I tried to get all the little details in them. I don't think they were too happy about Azkaban. Azkaban is the prison for magic folks and if you don't behave you have to go. In order to get out your gonna have to give up all the money from your Gringotts vaults. They earn money with Goblin Jobs. My bedroom where all this stuff has been stored is a wreck so it will be no suprise if I find things later.  If you would like to see them making their trunks or being silly you can go here. As of today they are ready for Magic Schhool.
