Welcome to Hogwarts Distance Education, I hope you enjoy seeing our fun as much as I have had in the planning of it. Setting up my schoolroom has always been a big fun deal to me. I do rea;lize that the children are getting older, themes are kind of wasting away for them but I wanted just one more. Just one more big thing before they are just too old to really have fun with it anymore.

The idea started with a few posters and a yahoo group. Then of course we had to have a Honeydukes and before you knew it the kids had thrown around ideas, I saw Harry Potter parties online and this little idea has taken on a life of its own. Because like me my children have to go all out so to speak!

The Classroom

An update of the classroom for the 2019 2020 school year is a blog post. The following was our classroom when the kids were very young!

This is the rrom outside of the classroom with the computers in it. The Ministry Of Magic poster is really cute. The tiny pictures around Dumbledore are of the four founders. I wanted them to all be bigger but ink was starting to run out. There is a Divination set up on the corner of my desk.

I think this Hogwarts Headmaster ID is just adorable! The scarf for the Divination stuff belonged to my grandmother Lucille. I have alot of her scarves that she wore during chemo. I enjoy displaying them. I also have some on my buffet table. The tea cup set is from my kitchen. I have always had a Coke Cola kitchen and years ago my kids' dad found a set of all white dishes. The tarot cards and ruins are from my mom. The little glass tray as well from my mom. The time turner and the crystal ball I found on ebay. Granted they aren't doing divination classes this semester it still looks good!

This is the art cabinet I got the proclamations from the wizardry film book.

This is their "owlery". The mailboxes are made from clearance at Valentines Day covered with scrapbook paper to look like wood. The little pictures are from some where online that had "ghost" pictures. The stuffed owl is not really a Harry Potter owl, but the kids don't seem to care!

This is the doorway I guess you would call it to the classroom, To the right is a Gryffindor "fat lady" picture. She is the portrait you have to say the password to get into the Gryffindor area. She is actually a motion sensor alarm that will say "password please".

To the left you see my sons chess game. Of course it is Wizards Chess. He got it for his birthday.

If you look behind the picture there is an old Harry Potter toy broom and a sign that I printed from the internet that says Witches Broom Parking Only or something like that.

When you walk into the room at the right you see the nature type area. This is for all things nature or animal. So now it is our Care Of Magical Creatures and Herbology center. The little cage hanging from the ceiling is our blue pixies. I really tried to find some but they never made any and all the handmade ones were crazy expensive. So I used Zumbuddies by Webkinz lol. The little cage was a flea market find for a buck!

Continuing on down the room you can see the baby mandrake I made. The kids wanted him ugly but I think I have convinced them that they are not ugly at first. I think my baby is completely adorable and I loved making her! The spider web for Aragog is in the center and he is surrounded by his offspring!

On to the back wall. This is our workboxes with new Harry Potter tags to match! The Gryffindor creat. What you don't see is the top of the TV has a sorting Hat on it. The TV is great to have for Math U See. This way they can be in this room instead of the Living Room.

Here is the sorting hat I picked up for 2 bucks used! My kids couldn't care  less if things are new or not.

The science area! We will do Chemistry for the first part of the year so Potions matched here perfect! The bottles were all made out of empty containers from food and the labels I printed offline and mod podged on. The little potions station was again some used toy that was bought for just a few bucks since it wasn''t new.

This is my giant shelf which I love! Down to the right is a sign that reads RESTRICTED! I couldn't have a whole area so I just got one shelf. This is where the Monster Book of Monsters lives as well. I printed the monster book from the yahoo group and covered it with a Harry Potter book cover.

The last corner of the room is the Geography area! The clear boxes are all state boxes from our Flat Travels. The painted boxes are Sea Means Chest for History. Of course it wouldn't be complete without The Marauders Map! Another little something from the film wizardry book

So thats it! that is our classroom. I am sure it will change as the year goes on when the kids do projects and such. I had a blast making it, as usual. I love decorating my classroom.
