Wizard School Field Trip!!!!!

       We had so much fun at the Wizard's Training Day in Gainesville! At first Skyler was a little leery thinking it would be all little kids but she brightened up when she saw plenty of older kiddos and even adults. Today is also the day I realize I really need to use my new phone because this camera is just crazy. Her awesome pictures do not look so awesome. We had an awesome day though!

Magical Creatures and Cauldron Cooking

        This week Skyler did some cooking and read about a magical creature we had never heard of before! It was found in her Monster Book of Monsters. 

Potions and Merlin!

       This week the girls played with the potions set from Moon and Moth Magic Co. We also had an amazing field trip to a Medieval Fair where Skyler got to meet the greatest wizard of all time! 

        Skyler got to meet Merlin!!!! She had such fun at the fair and such fun meeting a fellow magic friend! She also enjoyed picking out a baby dragon to add to her collection! 

New Year New Magic!

       Skyler has a new cursive book!! I found this little gem on Amazon and it was a must have!

        I am basically letting her go her own way and do a few pages that she picks out. 

Special Owl Post Delivery!

        Since Skyler is such a lover of Magical Creatures and we all know she is destined to become the greatest Magizoologist of all time Hagrid must know this and decided she needed a little gift! It arrived in the night by owl post as all magical parcels do! 

        I think Hagrid is getting old and forgetful though! Skyler is by far no longer a First Year! Either way she was super excited at getting a package!

The Last Week of Counting Down!

        This is the last week of Christmas Count Down! I found these adorable bath bombs at Walmart. There is a gnome, mermaid stars and fairy wings! She loves bath bomabs and creatures so win win!

Christmas Countdown Week 3

         These are some goodies for this weeks boxes. Lip balm kit, a unicorn to paint, some mini pies, fingerlings and a light up candy!

Hogwarts Christmas Count Down Week 2

       These are some goodies picked up for her Christmas countdown. I am trying hard to find things that have to do with magic school but some things are just too cute to pass up, like the reptar candy! Most of this stuff came from 5 Below or EBay. On Monday she gets the weekend goodies since she has visits with her daddy. It has been hard finding things that fit in the little boxes unless of course it is candy and she don't need that every day!

    
       This cute little dragon fairy was for day #9 and I felt he fit right in with Magical Creatures!

Hogwarts Christmas Countdown

        So I bought this adorable set of little paper bags for a Christmas countdown. Happy Potter theme of course!! They are extremely cute, sadly kinda small but i will make it work somehow. It be great if all you wanted to add was maybe some candies or pieces of jewelry but I wanted to add things like fun kits, magical creatures or maybe little gifts. They come as a file you print, cut and make yourself. they are easily made just a bit time consuming. There is one for each of the 25 days until Christmas. Since my little witch is gone every weekend she will get the days she missed on the Monday after. 

Love Potions, Arithmancy and Magical Creatures!!

        Skyler had a ton of fun this week in potions! She got to make a love potion! This is another one from The Wizards Workshop book. 

        I still think the cute little jokes and notes on the pages are simply adorable! Skyler had fun "casting" her spell too!

Magical Field Trip!!

        We are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn't burn.... It has been a long standing tale that my mother was a witch in her day! Witches are something that have always fascinated both myself and my daughters. Not all witches are bad and history and mythology is full of stories of them. Even Shakespeare who we all adore had witches in his plays. 

        We have read about executions of so called "witches" before but until coming to this museum we had no idea the absolute depravity of it all. We knew witches had been burned at the stake before and hung but I guess you really have to see it to understand. We went to The Medieval Torture Museum to learn how criminals and such were treated back then. We really didn't know we would find so many things about witches.  

Magic School Day!

        Butter beer ice cream was the first on her list today!! She is pretty much doing everything all by herself now and no longer asking for help so i am pretty thrilled in this area. We just got the recipe off line. 

Magic Fun!!

          We picked a fun movie this week. I mean if it has Nicholas Cage it has to be great, right? She loves her Magic school day! Shame on me for forgetting butterscotch sauce and we couldn't make any butterbeer ice cream! She was pretty forgiving though once she found out she was playing with fire for potions though!

       This week we made Zombie Fire!

Our Magical Week

 Magic school day is here!! This is her favorite day of the week I believe.  It was a pretty full day with Cauldron Cooking, Potions, book work, reading and a magical movie! This is the first time using The Wizards Workshop book and I am hoping she can do whatever she chooses pretty much on her own.  The art work in the book is pretty cutesy too. It is divided into three chapters, basic potions for beginners,  advanced wizard potions and hair raising potions for daring wizards. Now this is a cute book I saw it and fell in love right away. It wasn't the kids just mixing random stuff it was actual experiments with reactions but worded in a magical way so it was win win for me! It also came with a handy ingredient list and a set of down loadable labels to make the bottles for everything, which I did of course! Now the first down fall was the whole common ingredients it says that it uses. NO, most of these are not common things people have around their house I had to order a big majority of these chemicals off line. 
       The second down fall was picking potions and realizing we didn't have some of the stuff readily available at home even though I already got everything on the list. That was kind of frustrating. Granted I could have read through the book beforehand but when a book advertises that the list is everything you need I pretty much expect that to follow through. We finally decided on a potion that we had everything needed for and got to work!
