Welcome to Hogwarts Distance Education, I hope you enjoy seeing our fun as much as I have had in the planning of it. Setting up my schoolroom has always been a big fun deal to me. I do rea;lize that the children are getting older, themes are kind of wasting away for them but I wanted just one more. Just one more big thing before they are just too old to really have fun with it anymore.

The idea started with a few posters and a yahoo group. Then of course we had to have a Honeydukes and before you knew it the kids had thrown around ideas, I saw Harry Potter parties online and this little idea has taken on a life of its own. Because like me my children have to go all out so to speak!

Diagon Alley

Welcome to Diagon Alley! Well, the home version anyway lol. I have a million more ideas but this was enough to start. Sadly we had to put the Honeydukes shop in a cabinet that could be locked, some little wizards like to sneak sweets!!

We have Sugared Butterfly Wings, suckers galore, Ice Mice of course and Fudge Flies do not forget those! Certainly there are lemon drops and Bertie Botts Beans, a bunch of Cauldron cakes and skeletal sweets too! You know what? There is alot in there no more really needs to be said! They can only buy up to 3 things at a time though. No cavities since there is no Wizard here to fix them!!

This is the  Magical Menagerie where magical people buy their animal pets! Ours are technically Webkinz that I have scored at Dollar General and Ebay for cheap cheap cheap!
This is Gringotts Bank with the goblin Griphook of course! Since there are no Goblins or Elves here in Muggle World and the kids need to earn their Galleons, Sickles and Knuts to spend at the shop, every week they will recieve Goblin Jobs to earn their cash. It took my oldest daughter a month to cut out all the little coins I got offline. Well, for some reason the picture of the back of Gringotts won't load. It is really cute too. You can see that on the photobucket though that is linked at the end of the page. They have little vaults and even bank books I made on the computer for them to keep track of their money.
The Joke Shop!! We have the Skivving Snack box as well as the Swamp In A Box. Plenty of the little gag toys, love potions and pygmy puffs. The boxes were things offline I found and printed filling with little dollar candies and dollar tree swamp animals.
Olivanders was just kinda thrown in there as my sons idea. I would have loved to have bought all the character wands but that was way too much. The boys have actual wands from the Wizarding World in Orlando that daddy bought for them. I did enjoy making wands though. My daughter is pretty pleased with the pink one!
Granted Azkaban is not part of Diagon Alley I didn't know where else to put it. This is Azkaban, see the Dementors flying around there? Well Azkaban is the magic version of prison and my version of basically time out. We have some behaviors sometimes so maybe this will help. If you misbehave on Wizard School Day (Friday) then you go to Azkaban. In order to get out your bank vault gets emptied. All that hard earned money gets taken away. Of course you still do time as well.
There are more detailed pictures here if you wanna take a look. There isn't a Leaky Cauldron, Daily Profit Office or a Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream. I did however make Butterbeer mugs and ice cream dishes with those little labels on them. Thanks to the Yahoo group I have a ton of Daily Profits to make up as well. There is also no Mungo's Hospital or whatever but above the shops in that cabinet is all the first aid supplies I have so I figured I would put that sign up too.

I still have a billion ideas but this was a great start I think!! My kids are loving it anyway.
