Welcome to Hogwarts Distance Education, I hope you enjoy seeing our fun as much as I have had in the planning of it. Setting up my schoolroom has always been a big fun deal to me. I do rea;lize that the children are getting older, themes are kind of wasting away for them but I wanted just one more. Just one more big thing before they are just too old to really have fun with it anymore.

The idea started with a few posters and a yahoo group. Then of course we had to have a Honeydukes and before you knew it the kids had thrown around ideas, I saw Harry Potter parties online and this little idea has taken on a life of its own. Because like me my children have to go all out so to speak!

A Magical Field Trip

When I heard the Gainesville Museum was putting on a Fantastic Beasts event I knew we had to go! While magic school is a fond memory we still enjoy the magical world! We met up with awesome friends and the fun began!

We started of getting sorted and of course Skyler was Gryffindor! The first activity was a scavenger hunt for fantastic beasts and potronus images.

We also stopped to make some silly poses for pictures!

We tried to identify some plants for herbology

Then we made our own wands

After all that hard work we had to get some snacks from the Three Broomstick cafes.

The stuff that the kids got was just amazing! It was a true Harry Potter Day!

Of course chocolate frogs were on the menu!

After all that fun it was time to learn about wicked plants! It was the perfect Herbology set up in my opinion!

It was set up as if it was in an old house. The kids had fun going through it and learning all about dangerous and scary plants.

The table set up was filled with all kinds of plants you can eat. The kids could turn over the plates and learn about each one.

In this room they had a mystery set up. We had to figure out how the old lady had died. There were hints and clues all over with different poisonings
from different plants.

We never solved the mystery the kids were way too busy running from this thing to that! Full speed ahead during field trips! They also were able to learn about the many plants that drugs have been made from!

Once you left the house area there was a mausoleum of sorts set up which was really cool.

Skyler decided to explore the bathroom again since it had been crowded the first time around. She got to see and smell quite a few things. It was pretty neat how they work the five senses into the different exhibits.

We got to learn about a plant that will actually cause fire as well. There are also plants that can damage stuff too if left unattended.

It truly was a magical day and makes me miss doing magic school!
