Well we had our Magic School Day for the week and it was a win all the way around! We read, we learned, we played and had a blast! This week she decided to concentrate on frogs for Magical Creatures. That may have something to do with our field trip a few weeks ago. I got some notebooking pages off line to make her a journal of sorts so she could keep track of all the things she does instead of boring work sheets! I also added some dyslexic games from The Thinking Tree since she loves them so much! When we are all done I will have it all bound together for a keep sake. For her cover she chose to color a picture of the Gryffindor crest!
Of course the cats had to get in on the action! I suppose they could be magical creatures too.
First up was the Fabulous Frogs movie and building a frog anatomy model. This took a while but she finally finished it and laughed the whole time. The coolest part was she already knew quite a bit from doing the virtual dissection at the museum a few weeks back.
After that she made a notebooking page about the stuff she learned from the movie and made Gryffindor bookmark for her books.
In her Herbology book she read about the helicopter seeds and even made one to see how it falls.
I was also informed her Herbology book is way too small print wise but she had fun using the magnifier!
Her Magical Creature textbook is a bunch of notebooking pages that she will use the Monster Book of Monsters each week to research one and make a page about. This week she chose the three headed dog Cerberus. She really liked Fluffy from the movie!
She also enjoyed using her quill pen.
In Arithmancy she read about the history of it and next week she will start working through some problems. We also played a magical math game called Kazam! That was fun as well.
For cauldron cooking she decided this week it was all about chocolate frogs. So with some mint baking chips she made chocolate frogs for every one.
So with the making of frogs our magical day was done! It was a win win she never complained about anything and we both had a blast!!
